The manual transmission for all MINI models, including the MINI Cooper 2 Door and MINI Countryman, has been discontinued after the 2025 production year. With our commitments to a cleaner future and sustainability, the manual transmission did not meet the MINI brand’s goals. You can learn more about the new era of MINI vehicles at Momentum MINI, the number one MINI dealer in Houston.
Life After the MINI Manual Transmission
This major change stems from the MINI brand’s desire to lower its overall carbon emissions. MINI models will still retain the heart of an athletic, sporty ride, with or without a manual transmission. Moving forward, all MINI cars will automatic transmissions, which will ultimately result in more eco-friendly driving, more advanced designs, and improved ride quality for traveling around Highway 59. You can still purchase the manual transmission on currently available MINI vehicles, such as the MINI Convertible and MINI Cooper 4 Door.
The new standard transmission will be an Automatic DCT Transmission, that shifts smoothly and enables both laidback and energetic driving around Space City. The second option is called the Sport Automatic DCT that has quicker shifts and an aggressive GoKart mode. This transmission will come standard with steering wheel mounted paddles, unlike the standard transmission.
