If you're a mini enthusiast near Houston, you won't want to miss the 2026 MINI Takes the States rally. This event is your chance to celebrate MINI ownership, with three long-weekend journeys in Florida, California, and New York. You'll join numerous other MINI owners on a cruise through the countryside, with opportunities to share experiences and stories from the road.
What is the MINI Takes the States?
MINI Takes the States began as a cross-country journey to commemorate the launch of the MINI GP in 2006. Since then, it has become a biennial event with opportunities to drive on scenic roads and explore regional locations. Most Houston-area MINI owners will be drawn to the Florida route, which begins on Friday, November 13 in Fort Myers, FL, passes through Miami, and concludes in Key West on November 15. The California route runs from October 2nd–4th, travelling from Monterey to Sonoma to Lake Tahoe.
Each day will begin with a morning Rise & Rally drive-off event which includes a light breakfast. You'll then begin a four-to-five-hour drive with chances to stop and explore along the way. To end each evening, we'll meet up and enjoy refreshments as we discuss our road-trip experiences. All participants will receive a complimentary goodie bag that's included with the registration fee.
MINI owners and future owners (along with their friends and family) from all over the country are invited to participate. To access our main MINI parking area at the morning Rise & Rally and Coopers & Coffee events, you must drive a MINI. Parking for future owners will be in a designated area. Future owners can test drive a MINI vehicle at a local MINI dealer.
Florida Route and Activities
The Florida route will follow the Tamiami Trail, crossing the state and arriving in Miami for a lively MINI happy hour. It will then resume with a trek along the Overseas Highway and over the iconic 7 Mile Bridge to Key West, culminating in an evening event at the Key West Amphitheatre.
